FAQS
Who is Devshore Design?
My name is Oscar and I am the owner and lead developer at Devshore Design. I have been freelancing on the side since I began my developer career in 2018. Having worked at award-winning web agencies and at startups such as Angel Studios (a very popular website and mobile app known for "The Chosen" and "Sound of Freedom"), I have gained a broad range of experience. I am now bringing my expertise to YOUR business.
My good friend Tyson (a Senior Designer at Angel Studios) is available for design work as well if you need it. We are each married with children and live in Lehi UT.
What is the process?
Discovery:
We will have a meeting to discuss your business and what you need. We will also discuss the design and functionality of the website, make suggestions, and provide you the flat quote once you have your vision. If your project fits withing one of the packages, the package price is what it is. That simple.
Development:
We will begin development. We will send you the website/ app when complete whether you want it as a zipped folder, or as a github repo. One free revision is included. A revision would be a list of design changes such as color changes, font-sizes, etc.
Launch:
We will put the website online. You can use us to host, or you can use your own hosting. If you chose the addition of something like a web portal for you to manage the content, we will then give you a walk-through of how to access and use it.
What are the fees to expect when getting a website?
There are 3 required expenses:
The cost to have the website made. (A flat fee, not hourly. What we quote is what it costs).
Buying a domain name if you don't already have one. (Usually around $15 a year).
Hosting. (Usually around $10 a month)
A common example is something like $600 for the website, $15 a year for the domain name, and $10 a month for hosting.
What is a domain name?
A domain name is the address of your website that people type to reach the site, for example "walmart.com". Usually costs around $15 a year.
What is hosting?
It is a physical computer that is connected to the internet 24/7, and holds your website. When a user goes to your domain name, the computer then serves them the website. Hosting is usually around $10 a month.
What are the hosting options? Do you also host?
There are 2 options:
We can host it for you ($10 monthly)
You can use your own VPS (Linode, Digital Ocean, on-premise server etc) (Similar RAM/CPU/Network Speed options would cost twice or more than us).
What is the difference between a domain name and hosting?
A domain name is the address of your website that people type to reach the site. For example, walmart.com is a domain name. Hosting is is a physical computer that is connected to the internet 24/7, and serves your website to users that visit the domain name.
What if I already have a domain name?
That is fine. We can use your existing domain name.
What if I don't have a domain name?
For no extra charge, we will show you where and how to buy one.
What if I already have a server?
That is fine. We can use your existing server. Just give us the login credentials.
What is the difference between a website and a web app?
A web app is a website that performs some function or service. For example, Uber and Nextdoor are apps because they have functions (one let's you order car rides, and the other let's you chat with neighbors nearby), but a website that is just my portfolio is not an app. Aside from web apps, we also make mobile apps and desktop apps.
Do you also make web apps?
Yes! Unlike most web design companies, we also make web apps, mobile apps for iOS and Android, and desktop applications.
What is the difference between a mobile app and a website?
A mobile app is an application that is downloaded from the app store. A website is accessed through a web browser.
How long does it take?
3 days for most sites using the Business Starter and Business Pro packages. Beyond that, it depends on the scope and complexity of the project.
Are you a designer or a developer? Are those things the same?
A designer technically doesn't build the website. They design it (imagine someone drawing out how the website or app should look in Photoshop.)
A developer writes the code that makes it a real website or app that you can use, instead of just a picture of what it should look like.
I am a developer that also designs. Our designer is a full-time and exclusive designer.
What is your tech stack?
The technologies we love to build with are React, Next.js, TypeScript, React-Native, and Tailwind for the frontend, and Node.js, Express, Apollo, Prisma, GraphQL and PostgresSQL for the backend.
